I enjoy rowing alongside avatars of real people, each sitting on their own or their gym’s rowing machines. It turns an otherwise solitary activity into a shared, global challenge.
Over the past two days, I had to shift my priorities toward rest and walking; today, the stars aligned to give rowing another go. I am still rebuilding mobility and strength after taking an extended break following a fracture of my right clavicle last July. Usually, I row with a drag factor of 120–130, a value comparable to resistance, but until fully healed, it remains closer to 100.
After half a year, the pain and lingering tension have slowly subsided. I still need to be careful not to overshoot the limited amount of available energy. So far, there have been no negative aftereffects, aside from an increased triggering of restless legs syndrome. Tomorrow will tell how well my leg muscles held up. 😀
