Every person in Switzerland is, by law, entitled to one shelter space. In most apartment buildings, these spaces are commonly used as basement storage areas, provided the apartment’s occupants can convert them into a functioning shelter within 48 to 120 hours.
I personally use this space to store tools that help me manage some symptoms of an autoimmune disease that strongly influences my daily life. The cool but never freezing temperatures make it a suitable place for items that would otherwise be exposed to excessive summer heat in our attic apartment.
