Consistency is key to strengthening a habit. Moving rowing from Monday to Tuesday this week slightly disturbed my usual rhythm. Setting up the machine after a long work week, I caught myself thinking how, only a few years ago, I might have been closing the week with a few too many beers alongside colleagues.
Those were good times, full of deep discussions and fun celebrations. But in retrospect, my body certainly doesn’t complain about the absence of ethanol acting on my nervous system. 😅
Now I’m working hard to avoid unnecessarily reducing coordination, strength, or muscle mass, and to support neuroplasticity by keeping the system in motion. Doing what I can, as long as I can. And if none of it helps in the long run, at least I had fun and a sense of satisfaction while doing it. 🙌🏽
