Today, I went for a gentle walk to the pharmacy to pick up some items. Yesterday’s rowing workout left its mark 24 hours later: The second half of the walk left me a bit too wobbly for my taste, so I reduced my walking speed a little.
Being mindful of my own mobility while walking about is part of the chronic illness package – acknowledging and accepting limitations. It’s learning to have previously unnecessary thoughts, like gauging the available range, observing and actively controlling my gait while walking, and selecting the tools I may need to mitigate overall fatigue so I can stay safe – quite the surprising mental load.
In the end, the walk was refreshing. 🙂
